Congratulation! Looks like most of the people around me are really satisfied with the silver medal. I'm more greedy. I had willed the Singapore team to throw the China team off-balance, or at least erase the 'smirk' from the faces of the China opponents. I had wanted sooo much for everyone to listen to our 'Marikita' (Majulah Singapura).

Singapore finally gets her wish for an Olympic medal! SO will it be gold or silver? Since the opponent is from China (too)...I think the result is quite predictable. But for the reward of 1.5 million dollars, die die must WIN gold, then retire and shake leg for the rest of the life! Rey came home shouting the Singapore cheers he learnt from school, "S-IN-GAPORE! Go.....SINGAPORE!" hmm... 1st step to patriotism for children here, and a good way to learn spelling too. AT least now he knows how to spell a word that is longer than 'elephant'.

Beijing Olympics

As we speculate on who will be the one to light up the Olympic cauldron tonight, Misa told me Nana has held the Olympic torch in Macau earlier in May. That was when the Macau Olympic torch relay was held and Nana was there at the same time for her synchronize swimming competition. Cool! They had farewell lunch together with one of the torch bearers and got the chance to hold it. Misa's comment on holding it was " the material quality is good!" and Nana's was like "nothing special". sigh, Lucky ones...
