what he did at yamaha

Rey has tested my patience and sanity at Yamaha today. I have to wait till the lesson end, cycle fast back home to teach him a lesson. Even a saint can go crazy with 1 hour of accumulated stress and anger. He behaved like a monkey in the class. At the end of my lecturing and his lots of crying, I made him write down the list of things he should follow during the next lesson.
1) I will behave at Yamaha.
2) I will not pull up teacher's dress.
3) I will not eat my sleeve in class.
4) I will not sit on teacher's stool.
5) I will not disturb when teacher is playing the piano.

missing money mystery

Rey was counting his savings last night when he discovered that 1 coin was missing.
"Mummy, 1 coin is missing! Who took it?"
It was the big 500 yen coin I had given to Rey earlier. My intuition told me that it is papa, because I heard him meddling with the piggy bank in the room.
Assuming the role of the detective, I announced' ""It must be papa because I heard him shaking your piggy bank."
Rey was shocked! So shocked that I have to lend him my 500yen coin to pacify him. Then seconds later, he was in deep thoughts. You know, when you're a mother, you seem to read your child's mind.
"You're wondering why papa would want to take your money right?" (Rey nodded sadly). So we went to question the suspect.
In the end the mystery was solved. Rey had earlier poured some money from papa's the wallet into his own piggy bank and the papa had mistakenly retrieved Rey's coin later. So, both parties fault lah!

Rey then suddenly came up with a downright silly idea of writing a message (in hiragana) saying, "No money in here!"
OH no!!! He's thinking like the silly guy in the Chinese sayings 此地无银三百两!

Now the piggy bank is surrounded by his collection of acorns. And to install further 'security', he put acorns in the piggy bank so it can "poke the thief's hands" when he tries to steal again.

Being kind, he made papa write the silly message and pasted it on the wallet too.

cough cough

I have been coughing so much I think I have develop some stomach muscles! no need Billy Boot Camp. Rey's got ear infection which I didn't even notice. It was lucky that he had health check up at his kindy and thus I was informed. But the feeling of having an outsider to tell the mother the son is sick is quite traumatising. sian, planned to watch Narnia 2 with Rey at the movies, but that will have to wait till next week.

butterflies

This butterfly was caught from the park. Rey put it in an insect cage and we actually planned to return it back to its home the next day as it was raining heavily. But alas, it was found dead the next morning...we took the opportunity to examine it closely.

We had previously read a book about insects and Rey still remembers something about butterflies.
"Mummy, look. This is the powder from the wings. It helps the butterfly to shake itself away from a spider's web."
He also gets to see how catepillars turn into chrysallis and then butterflies in his kindergarten. The teacher displays 4 caterpillars in a cage in every classroom.

avocado craze

Rey used to dislike avocado but now he gobbles up half of it for snack now and then. We wrap the slices with seaweed and dip them in soy sauce.

Crush

Rey has a new crush on another girl, Atsuki-chan. He came home one day and told me frankly, "Mummy, I like a girl. Her name is Atsuki-chan (smile)" Oh, I know that girl. They share the same bus and are classmates this year. No wonder he kept mumbling her name for the past 2 weeks. I asked what he likes about her.
"Her cheeks are so soft. Softer than yours hehehe" He knew because he has touched and also kissed her cheeks!

From what I can see, Rey's crush is one-sided, sigh. Every Thursday I will go to his kinder to watch his afternoon gymnastic lessons. At times, the children are told to run round the hall and then look for a partner nearby at the whistle. Rey always seeks for Atsuki-chan, runs after her, tries to pair up with her and hold her hands whenever possible. He looks so sweet and shy when he's with her. And the funny thing is Atsuki-chan sometimes refused to pair up with him, leaving him desperately looking for another partner at the last minute. I had to control myself from bursting in laughter when I have to watch it several times. He is quite persistent. I wonder how long this crush will last.

At Road Safety Park

We rode on go-karts, went on nature walks, had a picnic. Ladybirds are so small but Rey managed to find 2 on this day. He caught 1 in his hands.

looking for more insects...

muddy time

getting ready to change.

warming up

just look at the happy angelic faces!

only 3 children left.

this looks like a mud bath hotspring.

Rey's kinder has a small paddy field for rice planting. Every spring, the children will step into the muddy field to till the soil. The lesson began in the class where the teacher explained why the soil has to be soften. If you don't know, stepping on it helps bring in fresh air and loosen the soil for roots to grow well. The kids had a nice time making mud balls and throwing them around. Rey even sat on the mud and was the last few to step out of the field reluctantly. Really hope there isn't any soil disease. Teacher said it was new soil they ordered the day before.

A mum's message

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6P2w5GkXmU&NR=1

Love it!! You'll understand this if you're a mum!
Something interesting to share with everyone. TIPS FROM USA POLICE This is a good reminder for all of us. You can never Read this too many times!
1.Tip from police: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!
2.If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you.... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet or purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3.If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4.Women have a tendency to get into their car after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their check book, or making a list, etc.) DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.
5.A Few Notes About Getting Into Your Car In a Parking Lot, or Parking Garage: A.Be aware: look around you; look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. (And check out under the car as you approach.)
B.If you're parked next to a big van you should enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars. C.Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6.ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).
7.If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ, RUN!
8.As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women? He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim. Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby cry recorder and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they heard baby cries outside their doors ! when they're home alone at night. Please pass this on! and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby. This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on: America's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana .

Mother's day

Yummy! I got myself a cake for Mother's Day. Went swimming with Rey at his pool and the coaches gave all mothers free entry and a carnation each. Rey gave me a nicely decorated heart-shaped mirror he made in school on Friday, coupled with great hugs and smacking kisses. So sweet...And the best of all is that I've got the best excuse to stay in bed till 10am this day. "Let me sleep more, Rey, today is Mother's Day... Zzzz" And I've got 2 nice flowers from Anchan finally after I threw a tantrum for not receiving anything. He was forgiven immediately.

just some photos

I thought this waitor looks very much like Rain IN PERSON when heis not smiling too much. This photo doesn't do any justice to my judgement.

Children's Day. Brought him to indoor playground for a wild time.

Rey and my favorite time of the day. 3 o' clock snack time.

so, that's all! Just photos. Nothing special to blog about. Children's Day is just like any other day for us because I always enjoy bringing Rey out to have lots of fun on weekends.
