Christmas at East Coast

Rey 'camped' indoors!

Buried knee-high in the sand.

Newspaper game. The loser has to fold the paper half and balance himself on it.

Cheltton is helping Rey to tiptoe on his newpaper.

Finally, we move the tent outdoor by the beach.

In the pool.

We rented a chalet to stay overnight on Christmas eve. Imagine 11 of us squeezing into 2 beds and a tent. It was fun. As it was raining most of the time on the eve, the adults got an excuse to play mahjong indoors while the kids have fun on their own by cycling in the rain. I was the big winner in the game hheheeh.

Did you read the newspaper about a Malay lady marrying an Italian after 4 years of courtship in Second Life (online game)? Well she is the one and the Malay wedding was held just blocks away. It's quite unbelievable that people married in a cyber game actually fall in love in real life, especially when they live far apart. I like Malay wedding when you can eat the curry and coconut flavoured desserts. But I can't eat....

I want to EAT! I was so looking forward to devouring the delicacies here but ended up with viral infection, with Mee Pok being the last nice food eaten. 3 days of plain food and lots of pain each time I swallow. It hurts more when I walk past the hawker center smelling fried Char Kuay Teow but can't eat it! I'm so desperate to cure this ulcers in my throat I seek both Western and Chinese medicine. I want to EAT and TALK!

We went to this Christmas gathering in the neighbourhood organized by the RC and came back with loads of gifts. Talk about the gathering, it started with some old residents singing Chinese and Hokkien karaoke at full blast, successfully killing the Christmas spirits.
Rey was there early to help decorate the Xmas tree while I rest my throat for the feast.

A farewell party with lots of fun

the children

girls being pulled by the legs while Rey formed a tunnel

girls talk

On Friday evening, we had a farewell party for a friend and her son who will be returning to their hometown in December. Sad to say, she is a close neighbour who lives 2 blocks away and we'd occassionally meet for lunch or chat during our sons' swimming lessons. I'll miss a good company, definitely.
The farewell party was quite like our usual gathering, with beers, wine, children crawling all over the places, running in and out of the room screaming..behaviours that will not be tolerated if the mama was alone with the child.
The children knew the equation. A group of chatty mama + beers & food = FUN for the children
See the video to see what I mean....

Yah, the kids were so noisy that a group of salarymen next door complained to the waitress. We did quieten the kids for a long 5 minutes, before the noise level picks up again, then total ignorance by the mums. hahaha. Maybe this will remind the businessmen next door to go home early and help their wives look after the kids.

Xmas toe socks

Wow! So kawaii ! I bet the toes can feel the Christmas spirits...
Oh no, I'm thinking like most Japanese girls who exclaim "kawaii!" about almost anything in their sight.
And these Doraemon socks,

kawaii! er.. do you think I can get them at Pasar Malam where they sell 3 for$5?

Christmas Carol

Hey, found this in a forum written by "Nemo"

Latest Christmas carol for 2008,

You'd better watch out
You'd better not cry
You'd better keep cash I'm telling you why:
Recession is coming to town.

It's hitting you once,
It's hitting you twice
It doesn't care if you've been careful and wise
Recession is coming to town

It's worthless if you've got shares
It's worthless if you've got bonds
It's safe when you've got cash in hand
So keep cash for goodness sake, Hey

You'd better watch out
You'd better not cry
You'd better keep cash I'm telling you why:
Recession is coming to town!

Finance products are confusing
Finance products are so vague
The banks make you bear the cost of risk
So keep out for goodness sake, OH

You'd better watch out
You'd better not cry
You'd better keep cash I'm telling you why:
Recession is coming to town.

His own Point system

Rey made a point system to keep track of his papa's coloring homework. Well, they spend time together learning how to color the pictures of an Ultraman book. Rey is the teacher and papa is the student. This is how Rey award papa for his good work.
many stars = excellent!
A Star + a circle + a tick = very good
a star + a tick = good
1 star = keep up the good work
A circle + star = average
many crosses = very BAD

something for me

Rey and mama walking through a jungle with a big dandelion.

Rey drew something for me. A sea and a ship with wheels so it can run on the beach too. And since he likes pizzas, he created a pizza conveyer belt to deliver the pizzas to the passengers. Plus a button to stop the belt when stomachs are filled.

Autumn leaves

Tis the best time now for viewing autumn leaves so I took Rey to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine for a walk. This shrine enshrines Michizane Sugawara , who becauseof his great learning during his lifetime is worshipped as the patron of learning.
I got a free ticket enter the area for viewing autumn leaves, plus Japanese sweets and tea. Rey was busy picking up the autumn leaves and being my model for the day.
