One of the main things my aunt and uncle complained about during their stay in Japan here is that they have to walk, walk and WALK. They're not used to walking since they drive, let alone riding in crowded bus and trains. But they have become healthier, I said.
"How to become healthy? There're too many smokers here, and we breathe in the smoke everywhere we go."
Quite true. I hate smoke and I hate smokers! It is difficult not to meet smokers with every 50 or less steps you take. You meet them at along any streets, traffic lights, bus stops, restaurants and even Mac Donalds too.
I'm still quite frustrated over the years that I have to make efforts to avoid smokers in restaurants. I simply avoid peak hours like the salaryman's lunch time. They smoke while waiting for their food to come and smoke after eating the food. I just wish I could pour down the cigarettes from the ashtrays down their throats. Now the Japanese are not considerate enough to stop smoking even when children sit beside them. Once, Rey had the nerve to tell a young smoker to stop smoking by saying "smelly! stop smoking!" in his face. Luckily, he was 'kind' enough to put out his smoke right away if not I'm going to curse him in some english he coudn't probably understand in the first place.
